JK Rowling inspired a brilliant Twitter beef between two Scottish libraries
WE’RE CALLING IT now: this is the best Twitter beef of 2016.
This is Orkney Library, a library situated on the Orkney Islands.
It has a rather entertaining Twitter account.
And this is its arch nemesis — Shetland Library.

It, too, has a rather excellent Twitter account.
On Friday, Orkney Library announced that it would be holding a book club discussion on JK Rowling’s crime novel, The Cuckoo’s Calling.
(Rowling published the book under the pen name Robert Galbraith.)
Rowling caught wind of the event…
And Orkney Library bribed her with cake.
And on Saturday, Rowling surprised everybody by showing up.
Best book club ever.
Shetland Library weren’t jealous at all, no way.
Nor did Orkney Library rub it in their faces.
Who knew libraries could be so competitive, eh?
Whoops!
